This will include materials (workbooks, exercise books and book-bag), a membership to the student section of our website and continued support from the staff at Hatch End Tuition.
Year 6 Tuition Course
The Year 6 Tuition course takes place during Autumn of Year 6. Booking is available once the Year 5 course has concluded.
We are fully up to date with recent changes to Independent school admission tests and have adapted our syllabus accordingly.
Students learn in small classes of no more than 12, in a stimulating and challenging environment. During their session, the previous week’s homework is reviewed and explained, then new work is taught. Class participation is positively encouraged and each child’s input is equally valued.
The course is 7 weeks long, with the 6th session being a mock exam session, during half term (option to be picked).
If, for any reason, a child cannot attend their normal timeslot, we offer a live online catch-up lesson so that children do not fall behind in their programme of work.
Why Hatch End Tuition?
Passages of text from classic and modern literature are used for comprehensions in lessons and homework. Comprehension techniques are taught and developed. Pupils will have the chance to write and submit writing pieces in various disciplines such as Story-writing; Continuation; Diary Entry and Letter-writing.
Advance topics are introduced to build on the year 5 curriculum. Mixed problem solving homework provided with methods and solutions reviewed in lessons. Ideal preparation for the worded multi-stage problems included in Independent School papers.
Logic activities, reasoning tasks and visual puzzles are practised and reviewed in lessons.
